Tales of Eternia Remastered: Platforms & Physical Editions

A source-based comparison of the Japanese editions and Australian Switch 2 listing for the 2026 remaster. Regions, boxed products and upgrade claims are kept separate.

Three quick answers

  1. Tales of Eternia Remastered has Japanese boxed Standard and Special editions on PS5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, plus Standard and Deluxe downloads on each. These are listed editions, not a live stock check. [1]
  2. The Japanese specifications for Tales of Eternia Remastered list ten text languages including English, and separately Japanese and English audio, for those three platforms. That does not prove the audio is already on a particular disc or card, or that no download is needed. [2]
  3. There are different ways to play Tales of Eternia Remastered on Switch 2: the Japanese Switch version supports backward compatibility, while Nintendo’s Australian listing describes separate Switch 2-only software with no Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Japanese upgrade rights remain unverified. [5]

Xbox in Japan: Tales of Eternia Remastered has official Japanese Standard and Deluxe digital listings for Xbox Series X|S. The pages display yen prices, but a listing or price does not establish that purchase or pre-order can currently be completed. Current checkout availability remains unverified. [6] [7]

Boxed and digital editions by region

Japan’s product matrix calls Standard editions 通常版, the boxed-only Special Edition 特装版, and the download-only Deluxe Edition デラックスエディション. The table groups the original twelve Japanese PS5/Switch/Switch 2 platform-and-format entries, two Australian digital entries, and the newly checked Japanese Xbox Standard and Deluxe digital listings. An unchecked boxed format is not “not available.”

The Japanese PlayStation Standard download of Tales of Eternia Remastered includes both PS4 and PS5 downloads under the checked product. That is a digital-listing entitlement, not a physical-disc upgrade guarantee. Nintendo download editions are identified by the Japanese publisher’s links; their destination store entered a queue, so no live availability claim is made. [3] [4]

As checked on 16 October 2026, the Japanese Xbox Standard product is 9P30VHWQXPS0 (¥3,960+); the Deluxe product is 9NSLFS16ZDKW (¥6,930+). Both identify Bandai Namco Entertainment as publisher, TOSE as developer and Xbox Series X|S as the platform. These are digital listings, not evidence for a boxed Xbox edition. [6] [7] [8]

The two Japanese Xbox pages show “10/14/2026” as their release date. The saved Japanese publisher specification gives 15 October 2026 for the console release; the reason for the difference is unverified. Tales of Eternia Remastered is recorded with source-specific dates, not a guessed timezone explanation. The extracted store content does not establish a current Buy or Pre-order button state, and no transaction was attempted. [6] [7]

Japanese text and English voice support

The publisher’s Japanese specifications for Tales of Eternia Remastered name Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Korean in the three platform columns used here. The field does not divide these into separate interface and subtitle guarantees.

The separate Japanese audio row says “Japanese, English.” The named Japanese Standard boxed products are identified, but disc or card contents, extra audio downloads and the actual language-selection menu have not been inspected. A missing JAN code does not cancel the publisher’s specification; it limits claims about a particular retail item. English text and English voice are separate declarations, neither inferred from the PC version. [2]

Switch 2 software, compatibility and upgrades

Running the Switch game on Switch 2 is one route: the Japanese publisher explicitly places backward compatibility in the Switch column for Tales of Eternia Remastered. It is not the same product as the separately listed Switch 2 boxed and download editions. [2]

The Nintendo AU listing describes another route: software exclusively for Switch 2, unusable on Switch. It also says the Switch version is sold separately, no Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack is available, and saves cannot be shared between the two versions. Those statements belong to that Australian target; they do not establish Japanese upgrade entitlements. [5]

The Japanese Deluxe Upgrade Pack for Tales of Eternia Remastered is another object altogether. The product matrix marks it as containing no base game. It is content-related, not evidence of a Switch-to-Switch-2 hardware-generation upgrade. The items-only Special Edition product likewise contains no game, so it is excluded from the edition table. Official sources and remaining limits

The original region and language sources were captured on 15 October 2026; the Japanese Xbox supplement was checked on 16 October 2026. This guide does not verify current inventory, checkout prices, cartridge type or complete on-media data. Unlisted regions were not checked, rather than declared unavailable. Trophy routes and other deferred topics remain outside this page; the original materials remain partial.
